Living on campus is a great way to get involved and fully immerse yourself into the Mississippi State experience! We can’t wait to have you HOME.

Housing Priority

Housing Priority is April 1st for the upcoming academic year. Housing Applications must be submitted by 11:59pm CST on April 1 to participate in the first round of Online Room Selection.

Your Housing Priority is primarily based on when you applied to the University (through Admissions). Housing Priority may be affected by a variety of other factors including, but not limited to, roommate requests (and their date of application for admission to the university), participation in living-learning or theme communities, and other criteria.

Roommates

Roommate Search and Selection opens on December 1st on the Housing Portal. Students have several options to select a roommate. You must be mutually confirmed on the Housing Portal by May 10th to select a room together during Online Room Selection.

Online Room Selection

Online Room Selection (OLRS) is an online self-assignment room selection process for First-Time Freshmen.

To participate in OLRS and secure their bed space, freshmen students will first be required to sign their online MSU Housing contract during the month April. Housing Contracts are not tied to a specific assignment and are transferable to any bed space in university student housing. A freshman student’s timeslot - a specific date/time to begin searching for/selecting housing assignments - will be issued in May according to a student's housing priority (see above). Due to the number of students participating in OLRS, time slots are spread out and scheduled in small waves throughout the month of May. For detailed information about selecting a bedspace, please visit our list of FAQs about Online Room Selection.

Move-in

MVNU2MSU will be in early August. The dates will be announced in the Summer leading up to move-in. Students will be checked in and greeted by move-in volunteers, including faculty, staff, and even MSU leadership to assist in their move. It is a fun day to make new friends and get settled into your new home away from home!

Upperclassmen & Transfer Students

Upperclassmen and transfer students are encouraged to live on campus because of the convenience it provides, the freedom to get involved, and the opportunities to meet new people.
