Residence Education

Residence Education

Every student attending Mississippi State University arrives with academic pursuits in mind. Housing and Residence Life recognizes that, in addition to success in the classroom, students need to learn how to build meaningful relationships, manage personal affairs, and develop effective communication skills.

Living in our residence halls provides every student with the opportunity to feel that they belong to a community of peers who pursue their education together. With that in mind, we recognize that each student will build a unique experience on campus, which includes getting involved in organizations, connecting with resources, and planning for a future career. Ultimately, we strive to ensure that students living in the residence halls connect their learning in the classroom to their next steps in life.

Learning Goals

·      Belong: recognize a sense of belonging in their hall community through social events and student staff interaction.

·      Experience: build their own experience on our campus through support from our staff, external student organizations, and interdepartmental collaborations.

·      Learn: connect what they learn in their classes with their experiences in Starkville and beyond through intentional education programming and volunteering opportunities.

·      Lead: discover their potential to lead in their professional lives through student-led organizations and peer mentorship roles.
