Application Steps

  1. Be admitted to the University
  2. Obtain your MSU NetID and Password, found in your admissions portal
  3. Incoming first-time freshmen should complete their Housing Application in the Housing Portal between October 1st - April 1st.
  4. Sign up for Orientation between February 1st - May 1st.
  5. Complete the Housing Contract between April 2nd - April 30th.
  6. Confirm your roommate between December 1st - May 1st.
  7. Incoming first-year students will choose their space during Online Room Selection (OLRS) in late May. 

* In order to qualify for the 1st Round of Online Room Selection, the Housing Applicaiton, Orientation Registration, and Housing Contract steps must be completed within the time periods stated above. Students who miss these priority deadlines will be qualify for the 2nd round of Online Room Selection.

Set Up Your NetPassword

Before You Begin: To access the University Student Housing Portal, you'll need to set up your NetPassword. This is done using your MSU NetID, which was provided to you by in your admission offer. Set your initial NetPassword. After setting it up, return to this page to apply for housing.

No Longer Planning to Attend MSU?

  • If you're a First-Time In College or New Transfer student and have decided not to attend MSU, you must submit a Cancellation Form to the Office of Admissions and Scholarships. You’ll need to use the email address and password you used when applying to MSU.
  • To cancel, log in to the portal, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on ‘Cancellation Form’.
