Application Steps

  1. Be admitted to the University
  2. Obtain your MSU NetID and Password
  3. Incoming first-year students should complete their Housing Application in the Housing Portal between October 1st - April 1st to qualify for the 1st round of OLRS.
  4. Sign up for Orientation beginning February 2nd.
  5. Complete the Housing Contract between April 2nd - April 30th.
  6. Confirm your roommate between December 1st - May 1st.
  7. Incoming first-year students will choose their space during Online Room Selection (OLRS) in late May.

Set Up Your NetPassword

Before You Begin: To access the University Student Housing Portal, you'll need to set up your NetPassword. This is done using your MSU NetID, which was provided to you by the Office of Admissions and Scholarships in your admission offer. You can set your initial NetPassword here. After setting it up, return to this page to apply for housing.

No Longer Planning to Attend MSU?

  • If you're a First-Time In College or New Transfer student and have decided not to attend MSU, you must submit a Cancellation Form to the Office of Admissions and Scholarships. You’ll need to use the email address and password you used when applying to MSU.
  • To cancel, log in to the portal, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on ‘Cancellation Form’.
