What is Interim Housing?

What if I'm currently assigned to a room in Interim Housing for the upcoming academic year?

Interim spaces are temporary assignments due to a high demand for housing. We will work to place you in a permanent assignment no later than July 15 as bed spaces become available.

Your housing fees will post to your student account on July 15th. After this date, please keep in mind that your new permanent assignment may cause a decrease in your housing fees, which will be reflected within one week of your reassignment.

  • If you no longer plan on attending MSU, please complete the MSU Cancellation Form to avoid these charges.
  • ~OR~ Cancel your Housing application by logging on to your 'Fall 2025 / Spring 2026' housing application via your Housing Portal.
