REMINDER: 2022 / 2023 Housing Contract Cancellation Penalty Deadline 5.31.2022

If your plans changed and you need to cancel your Fall 2022 / Spring 2023 MSU Housing Contract, we wanted to remind you that the last day to cancel with a $400 penalty is today, Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 11:59 PM.
As a reminder, the Fall 2022/Spring 2023 Cancellation schedule is below.
2022 / 2023 Housing Contract Cancellation Penalty Schedule
- On or before February 28, 2022: None
- March 1 – March 31, 2022: $200
- April 1 – April 30, 2022: $300
- May 1 – May 31, 2022: $400
- Beginning June 1, 2022: Students Enrolled May Not Cancel*
* Student must fill out a Contract Appeal in order for a cancellation to be considered.
To cancel, you need to do so through the Housing Portal.
How to Cancel:
- Log in on to the MSU Housing Portal
- Select ‘Make Changes to My Account’
- Select the Fall 2022/Spring 2023 term
- Complete the cancellation steps
If you will be an enrolled student this fall you will no longer be able to cancel your contract after Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 11:59 PM. If a sudden or severe medical or financial circumstance has occurred since signing your housing contract and you wish to cancel but instead must submit a contract appeal, those steps are below.
How to Submit a Contract Appeal:
- Log in on to the MSU Housing Portal
- Select ‘Make Changes to My Account’
- Select the Contract appeal form
NOTE: Please read the details of the Contract Appeal form and be sure to upload all required documentation. Contract appeals will be reviewed by a committee and students are not a guarantee to be released from their contractual obligation.
