Check-In Specifics
Opening day in the residence halls is always an exciting, yet stressful time. Therefore, to make the day run as smoothly as possible, please follow these directions.
Check-In
- Check-in will occur from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 8 at the Humphrey Coliseum (The Hump). If you will be arriving after 6 p.m. on August 8, check-in will occur at your assigned residence hall's front desk.
- The Hump provides you with a centralized location that allows you to immediately enter your room when you arrive at your assigned residence hall.
- Upon your arrival at the Hump, volunteers will be on hand to direct you. Please follow the directions given to you and have your MSU student ID available.
- Each residence hall will have several tables in the Hump’s concourse area. If you are assigned to Cresswell, Critz, Evans, Hathorn, Herbert, or Hull please walk to the LEFT once inside the Hump. If you are assigned to Building III, Griffis, Hurst, Ruby, McKee, Rice, or Sessums, please walk to the RIGHT once inside the Hump. (Volunteers will be available to point you in the correct direction!)
- When you arrive at your hall's tables, please show your MSU Student ID and sign out the keys to your room (if applicable).
- Also, if you need assistance with maps, directions, etc., please visit one of our several Information Tables throughout the Hump’s concourse area.
- *Please note that if you are assigned to Aiken Village or Arbour Acres, then you do NOT need to check in at the Hump. Please go directly to Aiken Village or Arbour Acres.
Unloading Zones
We will have unloading zones at our residence halls. If you would like to see your room before you unload your belongings, you will need to do this prior to entering the unloading zone. In the unloading zone, the car must be kept on with the driver behind the wheel at all times. There will be volunteers in the unloading zones to help you unload your car and label boxes with your residence hall room number. This labeling allows other available volunteers to help carry your belongings inside. There will be many people anxious to enter the unloading zones. Please be considerate and spend no more than 10 minutes in the unloading zones.
