Welcome!
Welcome to Mississippi State University and the Department of Housing and Residence Life! We are delighted you will join our on-campus family for the Fall 2013/Spring 2014 academic year.
Our residence halls open on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 8 a.m.. This opening day is known as "Movin' You to MSU" (MVNU2MSU) and will be an exciting time for students, parents, and the Mississippi State University Family!
What should I expect at MVNU2MSU?
There will be cars, luggage, and people everywhere! Traffic will move slowly, but constantly, into the residence halls. Please follow instructions provided by MSU Parking Services and the MSU Police on where to park. Also, please observe 10-minute time limit in the unloading zones so that all students will have an opportunity to unload their vehicles.
How do I check in to my new room?
If you move to campus on Saturday, August 10 between 8 a.m.-5 p.m., then you will check in to your room at the Humphrey Coliseum. BE SURE TO BRING YOUR MSU STUDENT ID. When you arrive at your residence hall, you must stop by the front desk to activate your ID and pick up your Room Inventory Form.
If your last name begins with the following letters, please arrive at the Hump on Saturday, August 10, during the time listed next to your letter.
A-I: 8 - 9 a.m. OR 12:30-1:30 p.m.
J-R: 9:30-10:30 a.m. OR 2-3 p.m.
S-Z: 11 a.m.-12 p.m. OR 3:30-4:30 p.m.
(The check-in process will shut down from 5-6 p.m. to give us time to transition from the Coliseum to the residence halls. After 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, please check in to your room at your assigned hall's front desk. Staff will be available.)
Who can help me move in?
There will be MVNU2MSU students, staff, faculty, and community volunteers available to help with your move. They will wear MVNU2MSU volunteer t-shirts, so help will be identifiable for you. Although they are glad to help you, please be aware that (legally) Mississippi State University and the Department of Housing and Residence Life is not responsible for any damage or loss incurred in the process.
Also, while we will have volunteers available, if you are bringing a large quantity of belongings or heavy pieces, you should bring family, friends, etc. with you to carry those items to your new room.
Please take time to review our entire web site. You will find detailed information about room personalization, permitted items, and life on campus. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 662-325-3555 or housing@saffairs.msstate.edu.
