Welcome to Mississippi State University and the Department of Housing and Residence Life! We are delighted you will be joining our on-campus family this fall.

The residence halls open on Saturday, August 9, 2008. It will be an exciting time for students, parents, and all of Mississippi State!

What should I expect at MVNU2MSU?

There will be cars, luggage, and people everywhere! Traffic will move slowly, but constantly, into the residence halls. Please follow instructions provided by MSU Parking Services and the MSU Police on where to park and observe the 10-minute time limit in the unloading zone so that all students will have an opportunity to unload their vehicles.

How do I check in to my new room?

The check-in process will happen at a centralized location, the Humphrey Coliseum. Arrive at the Coliseum during your assigned check-in time listed below. Once there, go to the appropriate area for your residence hall and complete the appropriate paperwork. From there, you will be directed to your new home. Check-in times are as follows:

Last Name begins with A – I: 8 – 9 am or 12:30 – 1:30 pm
Last Name begins with J – R: 9:30 – 10:30 am or 2 – 3 pm
Last Name begins with S – Z: 11 am – Noon or 3:30 – 4:30 pm

Who can help me move in?

There will be MVNU2MSU students, staff, and faculty member volunteers available to help with your move. They will all be wearing MVNU2MSU volunteer t-shirts. Although they are glad to help you, please be aware that (legally) MSU and the Housing departments are not responsible for any damage incurred in the process.

Also, while we will have volunteers available, if you are bringing a large quantity of belongings or heavy pieces, you should bring people (family, friends, etc.) with you to carry those items to your new room.
