Aiken Village Family Housing

Family housing at Mississippi State is designed to provide reasonably priced housing for student families. We believe a student's residential environment is an integral part of his or her total educational experience. Living in Aiken Village is an excellent way to expand your cultural and educational horizons. The complex is located on College View Street, and transportation is available through the university Transit system.

This family housing complex has 266 unfurnished apartments-59 one bedroom (about 405 square feet) and 207 two-bedroom (about 570 square feet). Each apartment has a 12-month lease, including university recesses and summer terms. All apartments have a living room/dining room area, kitchen, and bathroom. Each apartment has a gas furnace and water heater, cable TV, telephone, and bathtub with shower. Air conditioning was not provided in the past, but a 220-volt outlet is located in the living room for personal air conditioner installation. Every apartment has at least one air conditioning unit; some are personal units and some are MSU units. Residents of two bedroom apartments may wish to install a secondary unit.

Pets are not permitted in the complex. Major appliances such as freezers, dishwashers, or clothes washers and dryers are not allowed. Aiken Village has a laundry facility that is accessible 24 hours via card access to residents and spouses with identity cards.

To be eligible, you must be married and living with your spouse with one but no more than two dependents, or a single parent living with no more than three dependents, or a single graduate student; qualify as a full-time student, taking at least 12 undergraduate or a single graduate student with 9 graduate academic hours; and be making normal progress toward a degree as determined by the head of your college or school.

Maximum length of stay in Aiken Village is eight years. Maximum number of occupants is four family members for a two-bedroom and three family members for a one-bedroom. Applications require a $50 non-refundable application fee in order to be processed and placed on the waiting list. Applications submitted without the required application fee will not be processed. Once an apartment has become available for you, a $200 deposit must then be submitted.

To apply, submit an Aiken Village application. Applications are placed on a waiting list in chronological order based on the dates they are received. Since tenants are required to submit an intent to vacate by a specific date, it is difficult to give much advance notice of an apartment assignment. Please remember that filing an application for a particular semester does not guarantee an assignment for the semester requested.
