How to Apply
New Undergraduate Students
- If you are attending Mississippi State University for the first time, you must first apply and be officially admitted to the university in order to submit your housing preferences. Upon admittance to the university, an onCampus account will be created for you. Through onCampus, you will be able to select your housing preferences.Housing assignments are made based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your date of application for admission, your roommate request and his/her date of application for admission, your participation in learning communities, and others, until April 1 for those admitted before April 1. For students admitted after April 1 or who submit housing preferences after April 1, assignments will be made based on the date of your submission of the housing preferences and payment of the non-refundable reservation fee. Roommate requests may not be accepted after April 1. If you have been admitted and have received your login credentials, visit onCampus to submit your housing preferences. A non-refundable $55 reservation fee is required. The reservation fee is payable by check, money order, or credit card.

Current Undergraduate Students
- If you are currently attending or previously attended Mississippi State University and currently do not live in on-campus housing, please e-mail the following information to housing@saffairs.msstate.edu in order to have a myHousing account created: your full name, your nine-digit MSU ID number, your MSU NetID, and your academic classification for the term for which you wish to apply.
- Once your myHousing has been created, you will be able to submit an online application for housing. A non-refundable $55 application fee is required. The application fee is payable by check, money order, or credit card.

Continuing Residents
- If you are currently attending Mississippi State University and currently live in on-campus housing, you may request housing for the following year as part of SHARP (Student Housing Application Renewal Process). SHARP is usually available in February of each year for requests for the following Fall semester. Details are e-mailed to residents’ NetID@msstate.edu e-mail address prior to the opening of SHARP.
- Requests should be submitted via myHousing during the scheduled time for each process. A non-refundable $55 application fee is not required for students currently living in on-campus housing.

New Graduate Students and Family Housing
- If you are for graduate student housing, you must first apply and be officially admitted to the University Graduate School in order to apply for housing. Once you have been admitted to the University, e-mail the following information to housing@saffairs.msstate.edu in order to have a myHousing account created: your full name, your nine-digit MSU ID number, your MSU NetID, and your academic classification for the semester for which you wish to apply . Housing assignments are made based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your date of application for admission, your roommate request and his/her date of application for admission, your participation in learning communities, and others, until April 1 for those admitted before April 1. For students admitted after April 1 or who submit housing preferences after April 1, assignments will be made based on the date of your submission of the housing preferences and payment of the non-refundable reservation fee. To be eligible to live in Graduate and Family Housing, a student must…
- Be admitted to Mississippi State University and qualify as a degree-seeking student as defined by his/her college during the term housing is requested
- Make normal progress toward a degree as determined by the college
- Be married and/or have legal custody of a dependent child(ren) prior to being offered an assignment OR be a single graduate student.
- Once your myHousing has been created, you will be able to submit an online application for housing. A non-refundable $55 application fee is required. The application fee is payable by check, money order, or credit card.
- If space availability allows, we may make apartments available to post-docs. Highest priority is given to admitted students regardless of date of application. Post-docs will be considered for assignment after all eligible students have been offered an assignment.
Single graduate students may be accommodated with furnished apartments in Arbour Acres, unfurnished apartments in Aiken Village or in traditional residence halls. More information about Aiken Village Apartments is available at www.housing.msstate.edu/future/family/.

Summer School Housing
- We begin accepting applications for summer school housing in March of each year. The application process for summer school housing is the same as for fall or spring. Please visit www.housing.msstate.edu/apply/ and select the category that best fits your circumstances and follow the steps outlined to apply for summer school housing.
